Welcome to the Douglas County Youth Orchestra Website. Please read on to better understand who we are, what we do, and how you can benefit from being a part of the only string program in Douglas County.

Douglas County Youth Orchestra was formed in the Spring of 1997 with five string players. Currently there are 105 students in the program and two conductors. Beginning, intermediate and advanced classes meet weekly and give several performances throughout the year.

Orchestra classes are open to all students ages 7 and older. Students will be accepted into one or more of the following classes: pre-beginning, beginning, intermediate and advanced.

Registration and Auditions for the 2009-2010 season will be held September 10, 2009 from 3-6 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Roseburg. Students only need to schedule auditions if they are advancing to the next class level. Pre-beginning students need to call to have their name placed on a class list as class size is limited. Please call Kristin at 672-5035.

The DCYO will hold its first rehearsal on September 17, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church. Students will be notified after registration and auditions for class placement.

All rehearsals will take place at the First United Methodist Church (1771 W. Harvard Ave., Roseburg) on Thursdays at the following times:

Pre-Beginning 3:50-4:20
Beginning 4:30-5:00
Intermediate 4:00-4:30
Advanced 4:30-5:30

There is a one time registration fee of $50/student or $120/family of 3 or more. All new students will need to audition or call Kristin Riley. Some instruments are available to rent for a reduced rental fee. All students will receive a season pass to the Umpqua Symphony Association's 2009-2010 concert season.
